Formative / structural pruning

Corrective measures, right from the start

Not every tree does what it’s actually “meant to do” from the start. Aberrations therefore need to be safeguarded against in a timely manner – or, as applicable, corrected as early as possible – taking account of the form of growth that’s typical for the species of tree.

With the aid of formative / structural pruning, competitor shoots on young trees, for example, need to be removed or shortened in order to promote the formation of a strong leading shoot and to avoid the formation of forks at risk of breakage. Lateral branches with ingrown bark, interlocked, scraping or broken branches need to be removed.
This method ensures that in young trees the individually required clearance is produced little by little in areas of circulation, car parks, footpaths and cycle paths.
